Abstract

The article reports on two fires resulting from the severe drought and excessive heat felt throughout France in 1923. It details the forest fire that broke out on the French Riviera between Toulon and Cannes which killed eight people and damaged millions worth of properties. The article also reports on the fire that broke out in the Forest of Fontainebleu outside Paris which threatened several properties in the area.
