Abstract

The article focuses on a study which examined the influence of race/ethnicity and tumor subtype on pathologic complete response (pCR) after receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The study included 2.074 patients diagnosed with breast cancer between 1994 and 2008, and were treated with neoadjuvant anthracycline- and taxane-based chemotherapy. It found that lack of pCR, breast cancer subtytpe, grade 3 tumors and lymphovascular invasion were associated with recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS).
