- The article reports on the impact and rising AIDS-related cases on gay community in the U.S. It mentions that about 913 individuals are battling against AIDS, while 228 of them are succumbed to the illness. It states that the disease destroys the immune system of patients, leaving them vulnerable to viruses and bacteria. It notes that majority AIDS affected 72% of homosexual men, 17% of Haitian immigrants and one percent of hemophiliacs.
