Abstract

The article reports on the problems facing the airline industry in part from a suicidal fare war that had been ramping in 1982 around the world. It mentions that the twelve major carriers in the U.S. had already reached 500 million dollars of operating losses which was considered as the highest record of losses since 1980's 280 million dollars. Meanwhile, several airline creditors had proven an increased in profit including Piedmont Airlines Inc., Frontier Airlines Inc. and Ozark Air Lines.
