Abstract

The article focuses on the development of chemical compounds that have contributed positively to medicine, but are classified as hazardous by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It states how chemical wastes degrade land and underground reservoirs. The EPA estimates that 77 billion lbs of hazardous waste is generated in the country every year. As mentioned, the ground water, once contaminated, becomes impossible to treat, as it is not exposed to any natural purification system.
