Abstract

The article focuses on the Lenin shipyard strike that took place in September 1980 in Gdansk, Poland. It discusses the negotiations between the government and the labor union over a free-trade-union movement outside the Communist Party control. Further, Jan Jacewicz, a technician at the shipyard strike explained the reason for the Lenin strike being more effective than the riotous protests of 1970.
