Abstract
- The article focuses on the life and works of Jerome David Salinger, the American writer who wrote the novel "The Catcher in the Rye." It presents an analysis on how Salinger portrayed his characters including Holden Caulfield in the "The Catcher in the Rye" and the Glass family in his new book "Franny and Zooey." Particular focus is also given to Salinger's choice of living in recluse to focus on his creativity and his marriage with English-born Claire Douglas.
