Abstract

The article reports on the effect of the printing-trades unions strike to Portland, Oregon's two daily newspapers, "Oregonian," and "Oregon Journal." It states that the unions struck the two-daily newspapers due to newspaper collector Samuel I. Newhouse's plan to install automatic plate-casting equipment on the morning paper "Oregonian," which has reportedly dwindled down since the start of the strike. It profiles Newhouse, who purchased the journal making him the number 2 press lord in the U.S.
