Abstract
- The article discusses the competition between the periodicals "McCall's" and "Ladies Home Journal," in the women's magazines field in the U.S. The competition began when Curtis Publishing Co., parent of Ladies Home, bought part of the 2,325,903 subscribers of defunct "Coronet." In response, McCall's announced in full-page advertisements in major newspapers its intention to boost circulation to 8,000,000 by December 1961.
