Abstract

The article presents a survey, conducted by doctoral student Raymond C. Baumhart, on the ethical climate of the business in the U.S. in 1961. The executives argued that the average businessman would allow padding of expense accounts, raid other employees of the company and take advantage of inside information in making stock market killings. Among the unethical practices cited by executives include bribery, supplying of call girls and price fixing.
