Abstract

The article focuses on the pulmonary circulation of Andean Indians, who were noted for its warm hands despite cold weather. It features anthropologist Marschall T. Newman who states that lung pockets of most Indians in the Andes region have more capillaries and their heart pumps more blood, which makes their hands warm. It also relates their ability in adapting into diversely weathered altitude.
