Abstract

The article reports on a propagandistic move of the Soviet Union in 1957 which alleges the U.S. of stirring up Turkey to wage war against Syria. It states that Soviet leader Nikita Sergeevich Khruschev sent personal letters to the members of Socialist parties of several European nations in order to create internal dissension and strengthen the claim that the U.S. threatens Syrian peace. It also says that some Arab leaders believed that the U.S. wants to use Turkey against Syria.
