Abstract

The article focuses on Sputnik, the first man-made satellite which was launched by the Soviet Union to orbit Earth in 1957. It states that the success of the satellite's operation has opened a new chapter of the cold war between the Soviet Union and the U.S. It also says that the U.S. has lost its lead in the space race; however, the periodical "London Express" has asserted that America will still be triumphant in it.
