Abstract

The article offers information on the rise of the inflation rate in Chile. It mentions three causes of the rise in inflation rate such as severe drought, unseasonal rains and the decline in the price of copper from 55 cents per pound (lb) to 27 cents, which caused the government to lost 6,300,000 dollars in taxes. Furthermore, it mentions that President Carlos Ibanez has decided to cut government expenses by reducing the subsidies that limit the price of tea and sugar.
