Abstract

The article reports that Sudan has held its first national election. Sudan was annexed by Great Britain in 1899. Great Britain and Egypt reached a compromise to let Sudanese people decide on whether they want independence from Great Britain. The results of the election showed that the pro-Egyptian National Unionists won the polls.
