Abstract
- The article highlights the assignment of the disease detectives of the U.S. Public Health Service at the camps around Lake Vera in the foothills of Sierra Nevada in California where three of the four Camp Fire Girls had been infected with malaria. Efforts were made by state officials to check all families and warn doctors about the disease. The disease detectives prevented the spread of the disease after hearing the case of a marine veteran of Korea who live near the camp.
