Abstract
- The article reports on a heart operation conducted on a 30-year-old woman, who was suffering anginal pain, at the Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington D.C. in which an artificial aortic valve was placed in the patient. Heart surgeon Charles Hufnagel found that placing a substitute valve could be a solution to a heart disease called leaky valves. The researchers indicate that they anticipate the potential use of plastic valve in fixing damage in aorta due to rheumatic fever.
