Abstract
- The article features 51-year-old Joseph Roberts Smallwood, the provincial premier of Newfoundland who is credited in leading the development of his province. A former radio announcer, Smallwood is the first elected premier of the province. It reports on the move by Smallwood to travel in Europe in mid-September 1952 to convince industrialists in Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland and Italy to invest in his province.
