Abstract

The article discusses the close fight between Republican presidential candidates, Robert A. Taft and Dwight D. Eisenhower, during the campaign for the primary elections in 1952. It says that Taft is the utmost symbol of his party's opposition to the socialist philosophy, the control over Communism and graft in government. It cites Eisenhower's strong popular drive for a strong U.S. policy in foreign affairs and representation of those who are disgusted with professional politicians. It says that a mistake on either side could present a margin of defeat.
