Abstract

The article discusses the attack made by Soviet jets on a plane of Air France that is flying from Frankfurt to Berlin, Germany. The passengers lay down on their stomachs as bullets from the jets pierced the plane. The pilot Gilbert Schwallinger dived the plane into a cloud formation and used it as cover until he reached the Tempelhof Airdome in Berlin where he landed safely. The Soviets claimed that the plane is flying towards Leipzig, although the U.S. Air Force radar recorded that it is on course as it passed Fulda.
