Abstract

The article discusses how the on-going Korean War has devastated the North and South Korean people. Six million of the 30 million Koreans are now homeless and there are 375,000 South Korean casualties and 125,000 more wounded. The Civil Assistance Command of the United Nations (UN), composed mostly of U.S. Army soldiers, has prevented starvation in South Korea by opening soup kitchens, emergency refugee camps and orphanages as well as shipping 100,000 tons of grain and 3,000 tons of clothing.
