Abstract

The article reports that Juan Perón, president of Argentina, had utilized military law to counter the strikes of railroad workers while two government-supported unions were used to shut down the operations of the independent daily newspaper, "La Prensa." Perón claimed that the strikers were anarchists, socialists, radicals and communists and invoked the Law for Organization of the Nation in Wartime. The news-vendors' union made impossible demands on "La Prensa."
