Abstract

The article discusses the ebbing popularity of socialism around the world in 1950, which became popular in the immediate postwar years led by the triumphant Labor Party of Great Britain. It says that the socialist Labor Party in New Zealand lost to the free-enterprising National Party last November 1949. The author adds that the socialist Labor Party in Australia also lost in the elections after eight years in power last December 1949. The split among Socialists in Italy and how socialist parties faded in Austria, Denmark and Norway are also discussed.
