Abstract

The article reports on the robotic machine or computing machine called Bessie that is constructed by International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) and presented to Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It claims that Bessie is a descendant of the calculating machines that were developed earlier, including the mechanical calculator that was designed by French mathematician Blaise Pascal. The operation of Bessie is also discussed.
