Abstract

The article focuses on the case of former police inspector Louis Salve and his partner Gaston Lange, who were arrested for pretending to be heroes during the Resistance in France. It was discovered that Salve and Lange had been selling authentic-looking Resistance papers at 400,000 to 600,000 francs a set. In 1947, a bronze plaque was placed on the wall of an apartment house in Paris believed to be the place where the first armed resistance movement, the Wolves of France, was created under their direction.
