Abstract

This article deals with the crisis facing slow-pitch softball. It notes that new, lively softballs are the key issue in this sport. Particular focus is given to the difference between the new balls and the traditional one. Fred Wampar of the United States Testing Co. points out that the difference in rebounding capacity between the traditional softball and the new one is interesting. Don Porter of the American Softball Association thinks that the balls are too lively for competition.
