Abstract

The article presents responses from speed boats enthusiasts on whether they believe that a water barrier exists somewhere under 225 miles per hour (mph). Guy Lombardo of Freeport, New York says yes because a boat starts to shudder and vibrate when it nears 225 mph. Ruby Scull of Ventnor, New Jersey says they can reach 300 mph if redesigned boat propellers are used. Ron Musson of Akron disagrees because according to him hulls are being developed to cut through water which will eventually break the 225 mph barrier.
