Abstract

Many studies of alienation have related it to social characteristics such as occupation, education, race, and urbanization. This paper considers also its relation to political attitudes toward such issues as governmental action programs, racial integration, freedom of speech, and international organizations, and finds that it has important effects in all these areas.
