Abstract

The article reports on the increased shortage supply of skilled workers in the U.S. Based on the figures from the U.S. Department of Labor, unions got wage-and-fringe increase amounting to 6.3% annually in major contracts in the first quarter of 1969. It notes that the surfeit of shortages is manifested in the increased fees charged by training schools and employment agencies. It cites on the success of the Project Transition program, which encourages G. I.s to take job training courses.
