Abstract

The article discusses the decision of U.S. President Lyndon Johnson to consider and accept North Vietnam's call to hold peace talks on May 10, 1968 in Paris, France. It states that the said forthcoming meeting could be the first step to resolve U.S. intention to call a complete cessation of bombing raids and other acts of war against the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. President Johnson noted the need to get the talks started to prevent further postponement of domestic progress.
