Abstract
- The article recalls the 1955 National Hockey League (NHL) riot which happened during the St. Patrick's Day. During a game against the Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens Maurice Richard was suspended for attacking NHL president Clarence Campbell called on a hearing Bruin defenseman Hal Laycoe. NHL president Clarence Campbell organized a meeting at the Montreal Forum in Quebec during the St. Patrick's Day to discuss the issue. Unhappy fans went to the forum. A fan threw a tear-gas bomb at the site.
