Abstract

The article focuses on the Lacoste family of Paris, France, the sports championships they brought home and the success of their manufacturing business. After Rene Lacoste, former Wimbledon and 1927 Forest Hills tennis champion, retired from tennis, his daughter Catherine Marie, won the 1967 U.S. Women's Open golf tournament. His wife, Simone Thion de la Chaume, is also a 15-time winner of French amateur golf championships. The family's sports shirt business became popular with its crocodile trademark and Rene later on invented the steel tennis racket.
