Abstract

The article reports on the results of the 1974 election in Great Britain. It notes that the outcome of the election was a cliffhanger because despite the 301 seats won by the Labor Party against the Tories' 296, it was still not enough to gain the needed 318 for a majority. It cites the 11.7-million votes won by the Tory Party compared to the 11.7 million of the Labor Party. It has been rumored that Prime Minister Edward Heath will step down from his position and pass the leadership to former Northern Ireland Secretary of State and Employment Secretary William Whitelaw.
