Abstract

The article focuses on the Yugoslav government's action following the 1972 strike of 30,000 Croat students in Zagreb, Croatia. Attacking Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito's experimental decentralization program, Croatian nationalists demanded their own airline and army, as well as separate membership in the United Nations. It says that some 250 Croats were charged with serious political crimes, while around 1000 have been expelled from the Croatian Communist Party.
