Abstract

The article focuses on the reluctance shown by the government of Great Britain to enter the European Economic Community. It mentions that the government under the administration of Prime Minister Harold Wilson has clearly stated that Great Britain will not join the six-member European Economic Community. It reports that according to Wilson, the terms and conditions accepted by his successor Edward Heath in Luxembourg were unacceptable. It further mentions that Wilson's decision to not enter into the Common Market has been criticized by various political leaders including former Foreign Minister Lord George-Brown and George Thompson and Roy Jenkins, deputy leader of the party.
