Abstract

The article discusses family related issues arising in the U.S. According to reports families in the U.S. are in trouble to such an extent that threaten the future of the nation. The reports reveal that one in every four U.S. marriages eventually ends in divorce. Also the birth rate has decreased to 17.7 in 1969. According to Paul Popenoe, founder of the American Institute of Family Relations, no society has ever survived after its family life deteriorated. Harvard Professor Emeritus Carle Zimmerman maintains the view that the extinction of faith in the familistic system is identical with the movements in Greece during the century following the Peloponnesian Wars.
