Abstract

The article focuses on art collector Gertrude Stein and her relationship with painter Pablo Ruiz Picasso. It is stated that while Stein considered Picasso as her spiritual brother, in 1909, Picasso created a parody of Baroque ceiling painting as a homage to the former. Stein, who started her collection with Picasso's painting "Young Girl with Basket of Flowers," had the largest collection of the painter's works in France. It is stated that the 27 Rue de Fleurus flat located in Paris, France, which Stein shared with her brother Leo Stein till 1913 had the best collection of works of several writers and artists. It is reported that after the deaths of Leo and Gertrude, an exhibition was conducted by Museum of Modern Art in New York City, which included 110 paintings of Picasso.
