Abstract
- The article reports on the eight-country tour of Pope Paul VI to Asia, Australia and Oceania. According to the Pope, the theme of the tour was the discovery of the church. During his tour, he visited the home of Carlos Navarro, a construction worker, in Tondo slum of Manila, Philippines, who tries to support family which include eight children on a dollar a day. It is reported that in Western Samoa, he was received like a king and presented with a huge roast pig after his address at the church of St. Anne at Leulumoega, Samoa. It is stated that in Indonesia, 50,000 people stormed into the Djakarta stadium in Djakarta, Indonesia, for the Pope's Mass. In Ceylon, the Pope was received by Ceylon Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike and a 50,000 strong crowd.
