Abstract

The article presents information on Jock Yablonski, a former coal miner. He is mentioned to arouse strong feelings where he went in the traditionally violent coal fields. He challenged the president W. A. Boyle in an election to head the United Mine Workers Union. He gave fiery speeches and accusing union leaders of mismanagement. He lost the election but leveled charges of irregularities. He alongwith his wife were shot dead on December 30, 1970 in their home in Clarksville, Pennsylvania.
