Abstract

The article focuses on the members of the Enrichment Class for Life and Death at the Myra Terwilliger Elementary School, outside Gainesville, Florida. It states that the members of the death-education class amaze their teacher, Judith Shaak, because of their impression of death as an ordinary thing. It adds that death-education courses are being taught in college, high school and elementary students, despite of the remark by Arnold Toynbee which says that death is un-American. Furthermore, it says that the children, who are mostly gifted fourth and fifth graders with intelligence quotients (IQs) above 125, perceive death as an ordinary thing and are taking like a game.
