Abstract
- The article offers information on the first international journey of Pope John Paul II. It mentions that Pope John Paul has chosen Mexico to be his first international trip to inaugurate the third Latin American Bishops' Conference (CELAM) that will offer a preview at the policies of his papacy. It adds that the first people to greet the Pope in the country were President Jose Lopez Portillo along with his wife and held the first Papal Mass in the nation's history at the Metropolitan Cathedral. Meanwhile, he took off for Rome after Mexico wherein he made a papal press conference during the flight. Furthermore, the first stopover of Pope John Paul was Dominican Republic where he celebrated a mass in Santo Domingo and asked the Christians to create a more human and livable world.
