Abstract
- The article reports on the emergence of the power pop music, a division of punk rock that aims to please, tease and amuse the listeners. It defines power pop as a means to set loose the good times and cites the 29-year-old Britons Nick Lowe and the 35-year-old Dave Edmunds as the most accomplished purveyors for such music. It discusses in detail the contributions of Lowe and Edmunds. These include the music of Lowe that appears to be short, catchy and cunningly melodic and some of his tunes are "Music for Money," "I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass" and "Little Hitler." Another is the switch and swap of talents of the two wherein Lowe is in charge with the creation of tunes and Edmunds as Lowe's backup. The vision of Lowe in making tunes is also noted.
