Abstract

The article discusses the controversial treatment for helping blemished vision in the U.S. called orthokeratology in which the best results seem to be in correcting young myopics. However, supporters have acknowledged that there is little hard scientific evidence to support some of the claims made for it. On the other hand, still orthokeratologists have been able to improve vision in an impressive manner that many people once with visual acuity of 20/200 or worse are able to walk around without glasses or contact lenses for the better part of the day. It states that orthokeratologists apply hard contact lenses to change the curvature of the cornea to improve vision. Additionally, patients are usually treated with a standard contact lens worn for up to 16 hours a day.
