Abstract
- The article announces the death of Prime Minister Chou Enlai of the People's Republic of China due to cancer. It states that his death was broadcast every half hour preceded by solemn music on radio stations all over China and appeared in newspapers throughout the world. It also states that flags at the U.S. consulate in Hong Kong, British Hong Kong Club and all the red banners in China flew at half-mast. It mentions he was instrumental in some major policy decisions in China until the last few months of his life while most of his responsibilities were delegated to First Vice Premier Teng Hsiao-ping.
