Abstract

The article reports on the move by U.S. President Gerald Ford administration in fighting against the so called regulatory fiefdoms in federal government. It mentions that regulatory fiefdoms have worsened inflation through limiting competition and maintaining prices artificially high. It cites several laws which have been passed by government to counter inflation including the Aviation Act of 1975 which enable airlines freer competition in routes and fares, the Motor Carrier Reform Act which removes interstate bus and truck transportation from federal regulation and the Railroad Revitalization Act which would remove the Interstate Commerce Commission from railroads.
