Abstract

The article focuses on the controversial nature of the religious faith of Reverend Richard John Neuhaus in the U.S. The continuous accountability of the nation to judgement by God has made Neuhaus think that believing in the covenant of God with the U.S. will lead to humility instead of arrogance. The Vietnam War and indifference to the poor have been criticized by Neuhaus. Religious and secular intellectuals are given less regard by Neuhaus as he considers them to be obsequiously accommodating to cultural moods instead of asserting religious truth claims.
