Abstract
- The article focuses on the statement by bank robber Patty Hearst in her affidavit and her plea for 1.5 million dollars bail. It says that Federal Judge Oliver J. Carter will decide on the preliminary determination whether or not Hearst is a safe risk to be released on a bail. It states that Carter appointed four experts to determine if Hearst is capable of testifying, including psychiatrists Seymour Pollack and Donald T. Lund, and psychologist Margaret Thaler Singer. It states that Carter provided each expert with a copy of Hearst's affidavit and a transcript of her taped conversation with Patricia Tobin. It states that Hearst's affidavit, which was described as rambling and repetitious, accounted how the Symbionese Liberation Army (S.L.A.) had tortured and threatened her intensively.
