Abstract

The article focuses on the leadership and resignation of South Vietnam President Nguyen Van Thieu and its impact and importance in Saigon government and Communists. It states that Thieu had been given an ultimatum of 48 hours to resign and that if he will not resign, Saigon would be affected. It mentions that he had led South Vietnam in eight years of war against Viet Cong and North Vietnameses and made South Vietnam the most stable government. It says that Thieu had resigned and was replaced by his old brother and Vice President Tran Van Huong. It adds that the only solution to avoid the military showdown between Communists and Saigon was Thieu's resignation. Moreover, with his resignation, the new Saigon government have no connection with the U.S. regime that it had formerly supported.
