Abstract

The article examines the efficacy of laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication (LNF) in comparison with laparoscopic Toupet fundoplication (LTF) as a surgical approach of choice for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). In order to compare the efficacy of both methods, a meta-analysis and a systematic review of randomized clinical trials were performed. In conclusion, LTF proves to be more effective because it reduces postoperative dysphagia and dilatation for dysphagia. There was also a lower reoperation rate and prevalence of symptoms after LTF.
