Abstract

The article focuses on the Internet industry firm MySpace, operator of the online social network of the same name. Efforts of MySpace to compete with the much larger social networks Facebook and Twitter are examined, particularly the company's close relationship with the music trade, which uses MySpace for Internet marketing of musicians and music releases.
